New Hobbit Book!!

What a great day!

Tomorrow is my 12th birthday, and Ms. MacFey surprised me today by giving me a brand new, hardback copy of The Hobbit and some Lord of the Rings trading cards! It's so cool! It's bound in leather and has a green ribbon bookmark! I've never had such a nice book. I don't even know if I've ever seen such a nice book. All the books I have are paperbacks, and most of them are pretty worn. (I read a lot) :-)
But this book! I'm going to take such good care of this book. It's the greatest thing I own!

Tomorrow is going to be a wonderful birthday!

Homecoming Tonight

Tonight is the Homecoming Dance. I'm not going, and I don't really care. Maddy is going with Josh. He's a Junior. Maybe when I'm a Junior I'll want to go to a dance, too.

Comix & Gum

I stayed after school today to help Ms. MacFey clean up, a habit that started a few weeks ago, and she thanked me with some gum and a Spiderman Comic Book! She is so nice! She just said that she appreciates my help and she wanted to show some thanks. I love school.

Home sucks, but at least I'm not grounded anymore. I'm walking home from school again today, so I can take my time through the forest.

Last Day Of Grounding

Today is the last day of my grounding! WOOHOO! Tomorrow I can walk to and from school again and get to be amongst the redwoods!

Weekend Woes

Things are looking worse. I'll be un-grounded on Monday, so I could go to the dance... maybe. I guess I don't have the courage to ask the girl or to ask Trudy if I could go. It's just as well. Me & dancing don't mix. I get mocked enough without them adding dancing to it. Now it's the weekend tomorrow, and it's just chores, chores, chores. I can't believe Maddy complains about having to hike in the redwoods with her mom. That sounds like a dream to me.

Homecoming Woes

Homecoming is next week. I won't be allowed to go anyway, so I don't know why it bothers me so much. Everyone in school is asking everyone else. I would like to ask someone, too; but it wouldn't be a good idea. She doesn't see me that way, so I will just keep quiet.

One More Week

Only another week of being grounded. The Samuels went out to eat Saturday night at Parlatto's. It's Trudy's favorite. Frank doesn't like it because it's too expensive, which is why they left me at home. I'll get some leftovers if Rex doesn't eat them all.... I guess I won't get any leftovers. It's okay, though. I was happy to have some time to myself.

Moonlight Tonight

... but I won't get to watch it. I kept seeing the commercials last night, and it looks pretty cool.

Still grounded. Nothing new to tell. I had to watch Survivor China last night, and it was pure torture. Fortunately, I was able to daydream through most of it until Trudy caught me with my eyes closed. I kept replaying scenes from The Hobbit in my head. Only 11 more days and I can read again.

At lease I can read at school! I just keep my library book in my locker and read between classes. That usually works, anyway, but today Rex saw me and knocked the book out of my hands swearing to tell his mom. I begged him not to. He said that if I kiss his big toe every night between now and the end of my grounding, he wouldn't tell. He's such a jerk, but what can I do? I guess I better pucker up and be glad he didn't demand something worse.

Grounded!

I can't believe I'm grounded! I didn't even do anything wrong! I just fell asleep while reading in my tree cave, and now I'm grounded for missing dinner. Grounded for two weeks! All Rex could do was laugh. It was so gross because he had a mouthful of mashed potatoes when he did. The worst part is that my grounding means I can't read at all! I have to sit with the family and watch TV in the evenings instead of reading in my room. All they watch is reality shows. I mean if they watched something cool like Moonlight or Bionic Woman, but it's all Dancing with the Stars and American Idol.

At least it's only two weeks. I'll be free again before my birthday. Just barely!

Cancelled Plans

False alarm. They'll be here on my birthday after all. Bummer... and since it's a Saturday I'll probably have to do chores all day. Maybe I can get them all done in the morning and have the afternoon to myself. There is still hope they'll be going to a Halloween party that night, and Rex will be out terrorizing little kids, so hopefully I'll have some time to myself.

Birthday Hopes

Hey! Yesterday I found out that the Samuels might be away on my birthday! That would mean I'd get it all to myself. That would be great!!

The Hobbit Trailer

The Hobbit trailer, although they never made the movie. At least I don't think they did. I still haven't seen the Lord of the Rings Trilogy on film. :(

Great Weekend

This weekend was so cool! Trudy & Frank had some church bazaar thing all day Sunday, and Rex went to a friend's house, so I was alone! I spent all day in my favorite grove reading. It was great being in the forest. So, I finished The Hobbit again. The cover is only barely hanging on. I'll have to put it down for a few weeks at least. I got to go to the library after school yesterday, and the librarian said they'd be getting the new Terry Pratchett book in later this month! I can't wait!

So, I'll have to go home now. Hope to write more tomorrow!
